Drawing Adventures: Fundamental to Experimental (Online) | Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Drawing Adventures: Fundamental to Experimental (Online)

In this class students focus on the expressive side of drawing through projects and abstract drawing exercises. Ages 6-12

Students begin by learning foundational skills and concepts, such as scale, value, mark making, shape, and the role of composition in the perception of a piece of art. The instructor expands beyond traditional ideas about drawing, and addresses how drawing can be used to tell stories and express emotions and ideas. Throughout the class, students consider questions such as: How does an artist convey happiness, strength, resolve, preciousness, or sadness through the act of drawing? Students learn how to use the skills they already have to express themselves creatively through the media of drawing.

Open to students ages 6–12. Younger students may need assistance from an adult. MCAD strictly adheres to these age guidelines and is unable to allow exceptions. View complete policies.
