Creative Drawing (in person)

Students in this class learn scale, value, mark making, shape, and the role of composition in the perception of a piece of art. Throughout the class, consider questions such as: How does an artist convey happiness, strength, resolve, preciousness, or sadness through the act of drawing? Through skill building, collaboration, and choice based activities, experiment, play, and develop creative expression through the media of drawing. / Materials fee of $5 in addition to course tuition.

Open to students ages 12–15. MCAD strictly adheres to these age guidelines and is unable to allow exceptions. Please review our complete Teen Policies as well as our General Policies prior to completing your registration. Covid policies and protocols are included in the Teen Policies page. 

Prerequisites

Previous drawing experience helpful, but not required.

Required materials

Supplies for the first class

• pen or pencil
• notebook or sketchbook
• #2 pencil
• sketchbook or white computer paper (several sheets per day)
• scissors
• 3 sticks vine charcoal
• 3 sticks compressed charcoal
• 5-10 pieces colorful construction paper (any colors)
• glue stick
• students’ choice of 1 wet medium (examples: watercolor tray, small ink bottle, food coloring)
• 18 x 24” drawing paper pad
• kneaded eraser

Supplies will cost approximately $30 (not included in tuition)

What to wear

Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.

Registration deadline

July 28 
If the minimum enrollment is not met by the deadline above, the class will be canceled on this date. Registration will remain open after this date if the minimum enrollment has been met.
