This workshop is designed for art educators that are looking to step deeper into the painting process and venture into a naturalistic way of painting, while acquiring curriculum ideas for the classroom. Discover how applicable the traditional methods of painting are in the contemporary art world and redefine what painting is today by pushing the limits of the artist and their tools. This workshop will explore various traditional and non-traditional media. In addition to painting focused assignments, educators will be exposed to various painting styles and histories through instructor demos and discussions. The workshop will introduce terms commonly used to discuss art and learn the value of group critique. The week-long workshop will inspire further development of one’s own painting practice. At the end of the course, educators will be able to apply what they have learned to their curriculum.
