Teaching Assignments in:
Graphic Design, Web Design and Motion Graphics
Continuing Studies Program


The Minneapolis College of Art and Design offers a 30-credit Certificate in Graphic Design for students who hold an undergraduate degree and want to develop professional skills and a graphic design portfolio during evening and weekend classes. The Certificate is awarded upon successful completion of a 10-course sequence completed over two years. Students develop print and digital versions of identity systems, small and large print pieces, multi-page publications, and web and motion graphics work. Course content includes ideation, design history, managing workflow and professional relationships, design theory and research methods.


Professional designers are invited to apply for teaching assignments (typically one course per semester) in this exciting program. The Graphic Design Certificate Program is offered through the Continuing Studies Program with full access to state-of-the-art computer labs, print facility, and seminar classrooms at the College.

The Department of Liberal Arts at Minneapolis College of Art and Design seeks applicants for part-time, temporary teaching positions as Adjunct Faculty. Salary: $4,120 per 3-credit course. The Department is especially interested in candidates with a foundational or developing expertise in either Art History or Writing for the Arts, and who can provide innovative, inspired instruction to talented, creative students.


MCAD: The Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) has been creating art on the cutting edge for well over a century. Help Desk Specialist
Technology


The Minneapolis College of Art and Design has an immediate opening for a fulltime, benefits-eligible Help Desk Specialist in our Technology Department.


Primary Function:
Provides operational support for the College's academic and administrative computer hardware/software and e-classroom facilities. Coordinates assignment and resolution of HelpDesk inquiries as well as other technical support and instructional training needs. Assists with overall implementation and on-going support for school-wide laptop initiative.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in coordination and timely resolution of IT HelpDesk and Request Tracker tickets. Responsible for prompt and helpful resolution to first and second tier computer support requests.
  • Provide operational support for student, staff and faculty OSX managed MacBooks.
  • Install, configure and support desktop workstations (OS X/Windows) and peripherals.
  • Work closely with Systems Administrators and AV Classroom Technician as well as graduate assistants and undergraduate student workers on technology-related troubleshooting.
  • Assist in resolving student, staff and faculty Apple Service Repair tasks.
  • Provide MCAD user base with training in basic software applications and computer-mediated processes.
  • Identify and assist with development and maintenance of operational training resources and KnowledgeBase support documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining school-owned computer hardware and peripheral inventory database.
  • Provide basic network maintenance for dorms, classrooms and wireless APs, with direction from Network Administrator.
  • Other duties and special projects as deemed appropriate by supervisor.

Qualifications:
Education: AS or BS in CIS or equivalent related field. Minimum two years of documented, professional Mac OS X and Apple hardware experience. Windows XP and Unix experience preferred.


Experience: Proven technical ability and demonstrated expertise working with Apple hardware and software. Knowledge and/or understanding of other operating systems, cross-platform environments and basic network concepts, helpful. Experience working in academic computer lab, college environment and/or with students is also desirable.


Skills: Possess strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to take initiative and follow work through to satisfactory completion. Self-motivated and creative with computing solutions for end-users. Some lifting (50 lbs. or less) is required.


Other: This position has been identified as security sensitive, and as such will require a background check. At the discretion of the college, various background checks may be done during the course of employment.

Public Safety Officer (On-Call)

The Minneapolis College of Art and Design has openings for on-call Public Safety Officers in our Public Safety Office. This position is non-benefits eligible.


Primary function is to provide a safe and secure campus environment by: protecting life and property; preventing and responding to crimes; operating the communications center; and assisting the college community by responding to requests of service. All duties will be carried out in accordance with local, state and federal laws, as well as college policies.


Candidates will be eligible for continued training after probationary period, which includes certification in Defensive Tactics, First Aid & CPR. All required uniforms and necessary equipment will be supplied by the college.


Qualifications include: High school diploma, or equivalent, required; Associates Degree, preferred. First Aid and CPR certification, preferred. General security experience, particularly in a college environment, preferred. Understanding of law enforcement and the key issues that impact a security officer. Must possess excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills, as well as interpersonal skills. Must have ability to prioritize when dealing with multiple high-priority situations. Must have valid driver's license. Satisfactory background and DMV check required. The starting wage range is $11.50 to $12.70 per hour, depending on experience and education.
