McKnight Artist Fellowships

for Visual Artists

Administered by the Minneapolis College of Art and Design

The 2009-10 McKnight Visual Artists Fellowship is currently on view. This exhibition, featuring the work of Michael Kareken, Aldo Moroni, Carolyn Swiszcz, and Piotr Szyhalski, closes on August 13, 2010.

The McKnight Artist Fellowships for Visual Artists program was established in 1981 with the purpose of identifying and rewarding outstanding Minnesota artists who have an established record of artistic success.

Administered by the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, the Fellowship program awards $25,000 annually to four Fellows, allowing each the freedom to pursue his or her own work over a 12-month period. Awards are often used for studio space, materials, travel or research, or simply to provide free, focused time to formulate ideas and make art.

At the end of each Fellowship year, the artists have a group exhibition in MCAD Gallery. This exhibition takes place in the summer, with an accompanying catalog featuring each Fellow and his or her work.

The McKnight Foundation, a Minnesota-based private philanthropic organization, generously supports this Fellowship program. Click here for a list of past recipients.
