Erik Brandt

Erik Brandt has been active in university teaching for more than eight years. Educated internationally, his research interests focus on issues of globalization that affect and drive the complexities of inter-cultural visual communication systems. His career began as a cartoonist in Japan, and he has since found focus largely in print media. He maintains a small graphic design studio, tÿpøgrafika, and he has also received recognition for his short films. (MFA, Virginia Commonwealth University)
Bernard Canniffe

Bernard Canniffe is originally from Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, and has lived in the U.S. since 1991. He is the former co-chair of Design at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where he collaborated with the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health on the MICA/JHU Design Coalition, which paired students with neighborhood groups to create meaningful, powerful messages on health and wellness topics. His work has been recognized in Graphic Design USA, HOW, and STEP Into Design, and through his own practice, Blue Collar Theory, he has made presentations at the Cumulus Design Conference in Lisbon, Portugal; the National Institute of Design Conference in Ahmedabad, India; at Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam, The Netherlands; at Lees-McRae College in North Carolina; and at the P&D Design Conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Tom Garrett has been teaching since 1986. His work has been recognized by Communication Arts, PRINT, Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles, Dimensional Illustrators, The Society of Publication Design, HOW, The Visual Club of New York, The New York Art Directors Club, and American Illustration. His clients include Atlantic Monthly, U.S. News & World Report, Business Week, The Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Fortune, TV Guide, National Geographic Traveler, The Wall Street Journal, Good Housekeeping, McCall's, Bloomberg L.P., Kiplinger, Timex, Mattel, Geico, Simon & Schuster, Warner Bros., IBM, American Airlines, Pillsbury, Northwest Airlines, the Guthrie Theater, and American Express. He is a contributor to Educating the Illustrator and Teaching Illustration, edited by Steven Heller (Allworth Press), and Exploring Illustration (Thomson/Delmar Publishing). Jan Jancourt

Jan Jancourt has worked with clients such as American Public Radio, Hunt Adkins, the Walker Art Center, Utne magazine, Intermedia Arts, Carleton College, and many more. He designed MCAD's identity system, which received recognition in HOW magazine. Kindra Murphy

Kindra Murphy is a graphic designer whose client list includes Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Prairie Home Productions, Stages Theatre Company, The Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum, and many others. Her honors include the American Association of Museum's Design Competition; the American Center for Design Annual 100 Show; and the AIGA Minnesota Design Show. Barbara Schulz

Barbara Schulz is a professional comic book illustrator and co-director of the annual MCAD workshop Schoolgirls and Mobilesuits: Culture and Creation in Manga and Anime. She works on titles such as "The Mask," "Dr. Strange," "G.I. Joe," "Micronauts," "Robin Hood," and "Hellion" for clients including Marvel, DC Comics, Dark Horse, Devil's Due, and Capstone Press. Ulana Zahajkewycz's work has appeared in The New York Times, PRINT, Diversion, New York Press, Top Shelf Comics, Girl's Life, CMYK, International Tattoo Art, City Pages, The Rake, Runner's World, and other venues, including USA/SciFi Network, Common Boundaries, Sothebys.com, American Illustration, the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles, and the Minnesota History Center. She has exhibited at CBGB Gallery, Max Fish, Tin Man Alley, Webster Hall, the Fringe, Soo Visual Arts Center, Westbeth Gallery, Montclair State University, Lunar Boy Gallery, MCAD Gallery, and the Woodstock 99 Festival.
