MCAD/McKnight Artists 2007/08 features new work by Stacey Davidson, Andrea Carlson, Megan Vossler and Amy DiGennaro, recipients of the 2007-08 McKnight Artist Fellowships for Visual Artists. This prestigious award is bestowed annually upon Minnesota artists who have an established record of artistic success. View a gallery of some of the works featured in the exhibition.

"[Stacey] Davidson judiciously arranges [her] dolls in various scenarios and positions in her studio and then paints them, as if to enliven the inanimate. The upshot is an expressively wide-ranging--if slippery--topography of emotions and narratives ..."
"Many of Andrea Carlson's paintings parse the symbolic meaning of stories and cultural objects with a sharp post-colonial critique. Accordingly, her work underscores issues of acculturation, assimilation, and most intriguingly, cannibalism. ... "
"Although she often uses such disparate sources as The New York Times and the United States Army Web site for source material, [Megan] Vossler depicts fear, migration, and terrorism as isolated, distant, and numbing. ..."
"[Amy] DiGennaro's intricate drawings weave a surplus of celebrated and unfamiliar narratives: from ancient Greek cults to French 17th-century fairytales to Christian hagiography. Her drawings blend fact and fiction, scientific and social diagrams ..."
