The Next Now: Inauguration at MCAD
On Saturday, April 17, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design celebrated the inauguration of its sixteenth president, Jay Coogan.
In his inaugural address, President Coogan said: "Although we are here today to inaugurate a new president, we are really gathered to celebrate the spirit of young artists: their endless artistic quests, their hard work in search of perfection, and their drive to pioneer and make new trails."
Today we are celebrating this moment, poised as it is, between the past and the future. We are honoring the traditions of an institution that is anything but traditional. And we are committing ourselves to what is next for our community--committing ourselves to the next now for MCAD.
